How Botanicals Affect Space

Botanicals always bring something special. A room always seems more open and inhabited when they host plants. May it be a vase of ranunculusa snake plant (I had to do a double-take upon looking), or some pretty, pretty wandering jews (purple? I love it already), it can add a lot of texture, color, and amazing scent to a room. Just like flowers can tie a wedding theme together and make it really special, they can do the same for a room - they are just that powerful. Want to see how powerful they can be in loving up a room? Just take a look below and I'm sure you'll see what I'm blabbering on about.

Three tips for adding botanicals to your space:

1. Put it in a cute plant holder. To add more character to your plant, adorn it with a decorative pot or vase. It does not have to be a bland pot; it can be vintage, clay, glass, rope - make it personal and you'll love it so much more.  However, some people choose to leave it in a regular pot, and that's okay. To personalize that, use washi tape. Or put it into a bigger (or just right fit) pot/whatever-the-heck-you-are-using holder. It's your choice to decorate it and get it to your liking. A bamboo basket would also look really amazing.

2. Hang the plants up on the wall. Creativity is key. Instead of keeping the plants on the ground or table, do a little something like this, or this. It's visually appealing and not difficult to manage.

3. Do some grouping and some solo. Think of when you are hanging framed photos. Do you always pair them with one another, or are they more often alone than not? Well, whatever your answer is, you can do the same with plants. Pair some together; that can look really appealing! Others, keep them alone to stick with a minimalistic theme. . By doing this, you keep variety throughout your space, and you won't feel overwhelmed by all of the botanicals in your space.

After looking at the photos above, are you inspired to add botanicals to your spaces? My favorite is the very first room. Which one is yours?

  1. Love this! This past year is the first time I've attempted to take care of plants, and even if I didn't always do a great job with this, it was totally worth it! I definitely notice the difference. Hoping to add more plants when I settle into my new place, will definitely refer back to this.

  2. Thank you! I am more recently trying to "take care" of plants (read: get real plants and actually water them). The plants that I used to have always died because I seldom used to even spare a second thought about taking care of them. Oops, haha. They're can be so gorgeous & affect the look of a room a lot, so I'm working on it. Haha. And I am glad that you liked the post. :)
