Over the past year, my curiosity and love for Italy has been at its peak. That is the one country that I would love to visit and move to after I graduate university. The reason for that is because I want to try and learn about the food, the culture, the language, and the amazing sights that have yet to be discovered. I am really infatuated with Italia! "I am in love with cities I've never been to and people I've never met."

This morning, my e-mail was graced with amazing photographs of an apartment in Lucca, Italy that was designed by Studiovo. If there is one thing to see and fall in love with in the early afternoon on Saturday, it is this apartment's contemporary decor. It is these types of places that inspire me to one day become a great Interior Designer. The black and white walls, accent walls, and high vaulted, angled ceilings all gives this apartment a dramatic feeling. What's better than that?

The accent wood walls are the focal point of this room. I really enjoy how the wall is uneven. It creates an interesting point-of-view, depending on where you are within the room. With white and glass interior (and stray pops of red), I'd say this room is very sleek + contemporary + open.

This apartment houses two dining areas - one can be viewed behind the accent walls and the other is just off of the living room. An all-white dining area is a must, as it gives off a sleek, contemporary look. Simple and fresh are two adjectives that I think off when I consider that space. The other dining area can seat four people, and the chairs are just my favorite.

The ceiling of the living room is high vaulted and angled. My favorite part of to this room is the circular, wide light on the ceiling. The room is spacious, and it looks even more so because of the light reflecting around the room. Oh, and the hand chair is the perfect furniture to help make the space look lived in without being too casual.

Flair is what a simple room needs, whether it's a piece of art, lighting, or just signature touches that appear throughout a space.  This white and black contemporary apartment's living room just happens to have a modern backlit sculpture to take on the job of flair. It adds life and color to the otherwise neutral space.

Geometric shapes take a unique turn in this kitchen. The arched window is an example of that. The cabinets are also examples of interesting aspects of this kitchen, as the usual handles are replaced by off-center slots.

Built-ins are quickly become favorites of mine. They add function to rooms while saving space. The built-in desk adds a mini-office to this contemporary bedroom without being a crowded area. Also! I cannot help but mention the geometric shapes that are throughout this space. I love how the triangular angle of the bed's headboard and mirror echo one another, and the circular light hovers above, creating a nice juxtaposition.

The master powder room is full of neutral shades with splashes of red only being the accessories. Once again the angled ceilings are intriguing in this powder room. I am also loving on the lighted mirror above the sink.

The raw space has been transformed into a cozy and inviting interior by introducing rich jewel hues in the upholstery of the main sectional sofa and throw cushions, and complimenting the copper pipe work with burnt orange pendant shade over the dining table and a rosy occasional sofa.

Let me stop right now; I need to let you guys know where this beautiful loft's design came from. Of course, I know that you think I created it - aw shucks! stop the flattery - but I did not - caught you there, yes? This amazing place is done by Alexander Uglyanitsa. This interesting, fun, design was created for a Minsk, Belarus project; the furniture is mostly Riva by Pininfarina. This once plain, brick, colorless place has now been brought to life with the rich hues and amazing coordination. I love how the room has a 'home-y' aura. I guess it is the brick wall, the furniture, or the fireplace (which I happen to looooove). There are hints of eclectic, contemporary, and modern in this room, which happens to be three of my favorite types of rooms.

Industrial pipe railings

It is amazing how these pipes are used for design and function. Usually, if I am staring dead a pipes, I would be like "Whut?" but these copper pipes work well with room. The horizontal wall paneling is also something that I get all giddy at just by staring at it for awhile. It is a trend that I have recently fallen in love with (can I say it is a lovely addition to pretty much all rooms? no? whatever, it is.)

Wouldn't it be amazing to look down at this everyday. Look at the rug underneath the table with those pretty navy chair. Gosh. It is simply perfect.

The entire space is warmed by the wooden ceiling panels, which also succeed in making the lofty ceiling appear lower for a more intimate atmosphere; the paneled ceiling effect is played out in other areas too, like the feature wall paneling and the edging of the built in seating nook and entertainment unit.

I love the brick walls [shawty was a brick HOUSE, ow!]. This entire kitchen space is lovely {I won't lie. In the early photos, I assumed it to be a bar.} It is a cozy little place that looks freaking amazing.

Another loft by Alexander Uglyanista:

Loft number 3 explores a much more neutral palette, cool and edgy with dark undertones that act as an anchor to the pale high ceilings.

I enjoy the cool tones of white with pops of the purple? blue? Purpue? bluple? More brick! I fancy that tons. This space is somewhere that I would not mind living {and trust me, I am picky}. And those stairs with no railings? They compliment this home, but if I were to live here, yeah...no, I am too clumsy for all of that! {oops!}

The simplicity of this place, along with the pops of color, amazing interior, and great lighting fixture all makes me warm on the inside. It is a place like no other that I have seen. The fact that I also adore white interiors also makes me glad to just stare at all of this pure awesomeness.

For the past few weeks, my grandmother has been on "redecoration" mode. Some new furniture, here and there, and most of all: all of the rooms get painted. It all began with the dining room, which was once painted white with a few old (very old) art decals that needed to come down (thank gosh it did!), and some old, unneeded furniture in the room. Now, that old-looking room is very bright in a shade of pastel yellow. That was not the original color that we were aiming for at first; the original color was supposed to be a light red. Imagine my shock when I awoke and realized that she was painting the room a yellow instead! Nevertheless, I am loving that the color did change.  The yellow brightens up the room. There is a unique wall as well (nothing big), it is a neutral tan with white trim. The only thing that I was (still am) dying for her to change is the brown carpet (bleh!), but she is not budging. I think either a hardwood floor (dark mahogany), or white carpet would go amazing in there (but who wants white carpet with little kids (my cousins) running around (they are here for summer)? I mean...I would not mind, but my grandmother is very picky.

The next room to get painted was the livingroom. She went with a basic white and tan look for the room. The carpet is brown as well (what the heck--it needs to go!). I love the art in the room (a painting of flowers) and the tall shelf that holds photographs, trophies, and a scripted bible verse in gold. Now, after the living room was painted, she went in the foyer and painted that white. Guess what else she painted white? The hallway. (I think my grandmother has a new-found love for the color white which is amazing as white homes are amazing - in moderation, course.)

Well, the one room that I am very delighted with for being painted white is the bathroom. It used to be a pinkish-orange hue and it looked horrible. A few days prior to the bathroom being painted, I told my grandmother that she should paint it a different color and get rid of the pink art decals (but those stayed sadly). I guess she took my advice for the first half, at least. The wall is now painted in half: the top a white color and the bottom a tiled texture, pink-orange hue color.

The latest painting adventure for my grams is her own bedroom. Actually, I forget what color she is painting it (probably white) because I just saw she was painting, then made my way to go eat some chicken that my mom just bought. I will most def check out the color and find out what she is painting next (I wish my bedroom, which I know isn't going to happen).

Designed by Gwanthmey and Robert Siegel, this is a high rise Duplex Penthouse. The beautiful, modernized space looks open and cozy.  Oh, and do not get me started on the pops of green in its monochromatic shades.out the room. The windows are also one of my favorite aspects of this space. Can I please live here?

When putting together a room, I have always had mahogany wood or light wood - never white. That is going to change soon because just the thought (and the photographs that spread the Internet) of white interior makes me giddy! Over the past year, I have been seeing more and more photographs of all white rooms and it looks lovely! Of course, I would have to keep the room spic-and-span so that it will not become dirty, but the beauty of the room would be soooo worth it. All white rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, dining rooms, kitchens, living rooms, and entertainment rooms--or not--, can be decorated so nicely. Do not let me get started on how many things you could use as the focal point of the room. Having such a bright, neutral color allows for more options in choosing the focal point and the color you want it to be.

My dream all-white room is a living room. I have the vision all planned out in my head; white, carpet floors; soft, comfy sofas; mint green and plum throw pillows; two framed maps above my couch; a fireplace on the front wall--in front of the sofas--, and big, white windows that allows tons of lights to stream into the room along with a vaulted ceiling. The focal point would probably be the chandelier that I'd have (possibly DIY).
