About Krishaun

I'm Krishaun Burns - a midwestern girl from Michigan, who's is off studying abroad in Germany and who also has a thing for design, mammals with four legs, and music. 

Light Up Colors is where I share my creative ideas, designs that catch my eye, design tips, and some of my life as I grow up into a young woman. This blog is kind of an old one, but I am revitalizing it into something new because I found my creative spirit once again with design. I hope that you enjoy this site + leave inspired. 

About Me

I am a seventeen-year-old teenage girl, who has an affinity for travel, music, and design. Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed artistic things: drawing, painting, writing, taking photos. My love has not dwindled yet. Coming up with new ideas about what to write or paint or capture with my camera is such an invigorating feeling; it's always something new. 

About three years ago (in 2012), I started to blog. That blog was nothing special, so I eventually stopped posting there. Eventually, I started blogging again - this time it was a personal/fashion blog as well as this blog, which was originally created as a home decor blog. As I continued to find my niche and explored the blog world, I have ventured into different aspects of the online world. The one that has always lasted has been designing. Now, I have been designing graphics and websites for mainly myself, but also some family and friends as I work on understanding who I am and what I like. (A little something extra: I have designed all of my own blog graphics. I guess I'm a bit of a typography and graphics lunatic. :)

At this point in my life, I am going away to Germany to spend the first semester of my senior year studying abroad. I plan to learn a hefty amount of German as well as get outside of my comfort zone. I want to be able to return to the U.S. with the knowledge that I did not stay comfortable. My short-term goal is to meet new people, explore whatever I can, and understand myself to the point where I am comfortable with myself.

Aside for my love of design, music, and travel (the top three focuses of Light Up Colors), I am a huge advocate for the LGBT community, ending body shaming for all sizes,  stopping cultural appropriation, and helping everyone feel comfortable with who they are (religion, ethnicity, economic background, e.g.)
