This morning, my e-mail was graced with amazing photographs of an apartment in Lucca, Italy that was designed by Studiovo. If there is one thing to see and fall in love with in the early afternoon on Saturday, it is this apartment's contemporary decor. It is these types of places that inspire me to one day become a great Interior Designer. The black and white walls, accent walls, and high vaulted, angled ceilings all gives this apartment a dramatic feeling. What's better than that?
The accent wood walls are the focal point of this room. I really enjoy how the wall is uneven. It creates an interesting point-of-view, depending on where you are within the room. With white and glass interior (and stray pops of red), I'd say this room is very sleek + contemporary + open.
This apartment houses two dining areas - one can be viewed behind the accent walls and the other is just off of the living room. An all-white dining area is a must, as it gives off a sleek, contemporary look. Simple and fresh are two adjectives that I think off when I consider that space. The other dining area can seat four people, and the chairs are just my favorite.
The ceiling of the living room is high vaulted and angled. My favorite part of to this room is the circular, wide light on the ceiling. The room is spacious, and it looks even more so because of the light reflecting around the room. Oh, and the hand chair is the perfect furniture to help make the space look lived in without being too casual.
Flair is what a simple room needs, whether it's a piece of art, lighting, or just signature touches that appear throughout a space. This white and black contemporary apartment's living room just happens to have a modern backlit sculpture to take on the job of flair. It adds life and color to the otherwise neutral space.
Geometric shapes take a unique turn in this kitchen. The arched window is an example of that. The cabinets are also examples of interesting aspects of this kitchen, as the usual handles are replaced by off-center slots.
Built-ins are quickly become favorites of mine. They add function to rooms while saving space. The built-in desk adds a mini-office to this contemporary bedroom without being a crowded area. Also! I cannot help but mention the geometric shapes that are throughout this space. I love how the triangular angle of the bed's headboard and mirror echo one another, and the circular light hovers above, creating a nice juxtaposition.
The master powder room is full of neutral shades with splashes of red only being the accessories. Once again the angled ceilings are intriguing in this powder room. I am also loving on the lighted mirror above the sink.
