Plain and Simple or Bold and Eccentric

When choosing the type of room that I am interested in having, there are two thoughts that always pop into my head. The first one: bold and eccentric. The second one: plain and simple. It is keen for me to think these two things through because it helps my mind conjure up a few ways I can decorate a room. The color schemes, the furniture, the decor - the themes. But, at the last minute (of course), my mind starts to think, how about bold and plain, eccentric and simple. I don't know. My mind works in those crazy ways.

To make a reference to this, let me point out that at this very moment, my room is plain and simple. The walls are a light yellow wood (no, not planks - cue tears), and there is not anything that pops up. Yep, not a focal point in sight. Even the dressers, the bed, and the desk are boring. It is all too plain for my liking, but hey, I have to deal with it until I move (soooon!). At times, I love simple rooms, but at other times, my bold side shows face and I get really annoyed at the simplicity of some rooms. My love for bright colors (i.e. orange, green, yellow, blue) shines above my liking for neutral colors (i.e. tan, white, black).

In conclusion to my barely-made-sense rambling above, I would like to say that plain and boring is not my style. Never has been, never will be. I need color. Whether it be a pillow case, a lamp shade, a plate. I seldom care what the heck the color is on (unless it looks absolutely foolish). If anything, give me neutral tones with bold accessories.

What is the decor style that you like?
