Love the Splash

Colors, colors, colors. I adore focal points in rooms. Whether it be the lovely painting sitting behind the neutral, tan sofa, or a big, nude statue of a freaking duck {haha, what? ducks don't even wear clothes - curse my sometimes overly-active imagination}, a focal point is my favorite part of a room.  Usually, a room is built around a focal point. And I love deciphering how each piece ties into that one focal point.  It's like a fun game to me. So, of course, I had to bring this lovely, bright and colorful rug into the picture. Found on Tumblr (my daily obsession), I love the color play in this photo. Not in the furnishing as that is simply a neutral beige and white, but in the fantastic rug! It has every color that I can image {wait, no, where the heck is purple!?}. The rug is vibrant and it works well bringing in numerous colors without overwhelming the color play throughout the room. And this works basically because of the fact the room is very neutral (but it could work in other ways by having a focal color in tons of pieces throughout the room).
